Ever wondered what it really means to be born again? It might not be what you think it is. Included in this teaching is the truth behind the phrase “being born again”, the meaning of John 3:3, the freedom Jesus gives us to say no, and the key to victorious living. Receive revelation knowledge and understanding of what Jesus meant by being born again.

Here’s a snipet:

The phrase “being born again” jumped out at me in the beginning of this year. Many who visit my website are already living in Christ, so I found that strange at first. As I kept on listening for Him, it became clear of what He wants to do for you and through you:

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they
might have life, and life more abundantly. John 10:10 KJV

It’s been said, and I agree completely, that if all Jesus did was die for us on the cross so that we can be eternally with the Father, we could not praise Him enough, love Him enough, worship Him enough. It is the core reason Jesus was born, lived, died, and resurrected. However, being the giver that God is, that was not enough. He wanted us to be born again, in every sense of the phrase. To have life, and that life more abundantly.

How do we get there? How can we live an abundant life? As the Amplified Bible puts it, to the full, till it overflows?

And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, [which come] of the giants: and we were in our own sights as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight. Numbers 13:33 KJV

Time and time again, as I minister to people from around the world, the common denominator in their struggles is the perception of how they see themselves. Over and over I hear: “ I know that God can, but will He do it for me?” Or, “Why
should God bless me?” Or, “I know that He’s all powerful, but maybe He will and maybe He won’t. I’ll see…” Or “Well, I’m just a lowly no body. I just need enough for my family. I don’t need much. I just need enough to make it, Lord.”

Did you know that this is self-centeredness? It might sound like humility, but it’s not. Self-centeredness causes us to have a distorted image of ourselves. And so, if you have a distorted image of yourself, that’s how others will see you. Here, in the book of Numbers, we see that the Israelites are again doubting God. Once again, they put their eyes on themselves and in the power of their own might instead of saying and trusting in what God has said about them and about their future.

What do you say about yourself? Do you say what God says or do you say what others have said about you? What do you say about your future? Does it match up to what God has already prophesied in His Word?

We need to be born again so that those images that have been placed in you during your formative years are renewed and replaced by what God says. It is the only way to live a life of victory. You must be born again in your inner image. You are made in the similitude of God. You are made to function like Him. Is your life reflecting that in every area?

This is an ongoing project. Every time we think we’ve arrived we realize that there is yet another level of trust that we need to surrender to the Lord. So what now? What do you do to renew and correct your inner image?

Today’s power verse is from the NLT, Proverbs 26 and verse 22: Rumors are dainty morsels that sink deep into one’s heart.

Rumors (gossip) are serious business. You might not think that it’s a big deal to spread news about someone else’s life, but in order to live a long, healthy, wealthy, whole life, this part of our daily lives must cease.

The trouble with gossip and why people repeat is found in the first part of the verse: they are dainty morsels. Dainty morsels are good to eat. You want more and more and more. Sounds kind of like gluttony, doesn’t it?

Gossip is like gluttony of the soul. Sooner or later, dis-ease sets in. If you think that gossip doesn’t affect you because you only hear it and not repeat it, think again. This verse also exposes that to be false. It affects your heart. And sooner or later, when your heart (which is like a spiritual container or a manufacturing center), is full, it will come out.

And where does it come out from? It overflows from your mouth. You eventually repeat a matter, even if you didn’t mean to.

You can stop the gossip by choosing not to eat it.

Today’s power verse is found in Proverbs 4 and verse 12: When you walk, you won’t be held back; when you run, you won’t stumble. (NLT)

There comes a time when it appears as though you are taking two steps forward, three steps back. No matter what you seem to do, you just can’t get ahead. Whether it be regarding your job, your finances, your health, or your relationships. If you’ve ever been in that season or you are there now, there is hope available to you.

Wisdom is applicable knowledge. Thinking back to a bad decision you’ve made, after some time you probably realized a few things that made “hindsight 20/20”. You were missing knowledge that, had you received it, you would have decided differently.

There are three things that work together: knowledge (what), understanding (why), and wisdom (application). As you are reading your daily chapter in Proverbs, that is your daily dose of knowledge. As you read the daily nuggets, understanding of a verse is imparted. When an issue arises that requires application, you’ll
use wisdom to make the right decision.

Writing your personal notes will help you remember what you have been reading, right when you need it. You’ll soon see that as you walk in the ways of wisdom, you will no longer be held back or stumble.

The power verses for today are Proverbs 3 and verses five and six: Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you what path to take. (NLT)

Have you ever been driving somewhere and wished you had a GPS in your car to give you directions? Or maybe, you don’t really need directions, but would like to know a shortcut through that traffic jam? Haven’t we all!

The Hebrew word for trust in verse 5 is batach. It means to have “confidence in… bold… secure… to feel safe…” The Hebrew word for heart is leb and means your soul: mind, will, and emotions.

It is when we have complete confidence and security in the Lord with all our soul we can then not depend on our own understanding. This is because when we trust someone we understand that they are looking out for our best interests. It is then easier to seek God’s will in all you do because you trust that He is watching out for you. It goes back to knowing the character of God. When you know His character, you can trust Him.

If you are having difficulty-trusting God with the issues of life, ask Him to reveal Himself to you. Once you see Him for Who He really is, trusting will be a non-issue.

Today’s power verse comes from Proverbs 28 and verse 25: Greed causes fighting; trusting the Lord leads to prosperity. (NLT)

Greed is never more apparent than when someone dies and leaves an inheritance. You see this time and time again in “Hollywood.” All of a sudden, a seemingly close knit family begins to vocally hurt one another. All for the sake of gaining more riches than what was left to them. The greed for more certainly causes arguments!

But it doesn’t just have to be when an inheritance or gift is distributed. It can be as little as deciding what to do with that tax refund or where to put that raise you get. Something in us just wants to keep it for ourselves; all of it!

The way to root out greed is to trust the Lord. Trusting is a life long project. God exposes things to us little by little and shows us where we need to either start trusting Him or trust Him for more than we are use to. By relying on the goodness and mercy of God, it weeds out the need for greed. As we rely on God to be our only Source of Provision, it begins to matter less and less what people give us. We can know that God will make good on His promises of provision when we rely on Him.

As you get to know the character of God, you will find how easily it is to trust Him for the seemingly impossible dreams that are laid up in your heart.

GOLD KEY AND MONEY

Today’s power verse comes from Proverbs 27 and verse 19: As a face is reflected in water, so the heart reflects the real person. (NLT)

The Hebrew word for heart in this verse is the word leb. The heart in this verse isn’t speaking about the organ in the body; rather, it is speaking about our soul: our mind, will, and emotions. It is our conscience.

It is our soul that reflects who we are at the moment. The reason I stated “at the moment” is because that can change. In order to reflect who we really are (we are spirits with souls in bodies), and Whose we are (if you are in Christ), we need to be transformed by the renewing of our mind (Romans 12:2). Our mind, our intellect and conscience, is part of our soul. That can only be renewed (changed to think like God thinks) by purposefully seeking to do so.

Are there areas in your life that are not reflecting all the goodness and mercy of God? If there is an area (we all have them!), then that is where you can begin to renew your heart by searching out what God has to say about it. Once you receive the revelation (that “Aha!” moment) you will soon see a different reflection on the outside of what your soul has been reflecting on the inside.

God will not be mocked. You will reap what you sow; sow the Word today.
